Get a book titled "Beginning Linux Programming" by Wrox Press. There is
an entire chapter on the curses library. This little baby will do screen
clearing, cursor positioning, colors, etc. Makes conio.h look like a pale
little brat. You won't find a 1 to 1 mapping of functions but you will be
portable.
I doesn't try to teach C, there are a ton of other books on that
topic...
