Someone may have answered this already; I'm behind on my mail.
I just compiled pcmcia or an alpha (it doesn't come preconfigured.) I remember
the pcmcia howt-to mentioning that RH i386 comes with the support but it is
turned off. I believe there is a pcmcia config file in /sysconfig. You need to
insert "yes" after PCMCIA= in that file, then reboot.
