2.0.35 kernel and raid patch - help?

I have RedHat 5.1 with kernel 2.0.35 and I need to run
raid1 on the disks. Having got the raid patch file I can
find no instructions on how to add it to the kernel.
Trying to add it in the usual way,
patch -p0 -s <raidpatch-2.0.35
gives me an error, hunk 1 of 1 failed.
Any assistance welcomed.
