They allow you to do things in X11 that fvwm2 does not support. For
instance KDE allows drag/drop operations, icons on the desktop, and
includes the kind of graphical desktop config tools that Win95 users are
accustomed to.

KDE also includes some applications that are aware of the KDE environment
and allow more easily integrated operations. Go to <http://www.kde.org/>
and check out some of the screen shots.
