I'm not aware of a program running under Linux, but I know a device that
runs on every OS: A thermometer. I'm using a temp rod I connect to a
multimeter. The thing is very thin and allows to messure the CPU temp
there where it doesn't gets affected by the air flow the ventilo produces.
