I hear rumors that someone will write an open source tool to do this,
but for now, your only choices are reinstall, or use Partition Magic 4.
PM4 is supposed to be able to defrag and shrink ext2 filesystems,
just as it does with dos.

I have not heard whether it is reliable, and it is their first release
with this functionality, so be prepared.
