You do keep track of redht errat's do you ? (top/ls/ etc are prima targets
if you have been hacked)

Do a 'rpm -Va' for data integrity.
Copy 'top/ls/du' from a cd and see if the output is different.
Check is /var/log/secure has been linked to /dev/null,

if any of the above doesn't check out you have a problem :)
