Ah, but that would be the *easy* way. 

Seriously: I can upgrade the system in question with downloaded files,
but I've been told that you can upgrade over FTP, and, being that I believe
the best way to learn about a system is to do the Really Stupid Stuff, I'd
like to try. Thus, my question.
