Yup... 'mount -t <file-system> /dev/xxx', where file-system is the just
that (msdos, vfat, ext2 etc) and /dev/xxx is the device relating to the
partition (e.g. /dev/hda1 for the first partition of the first drive).

Better off doing a full upgrade, although the new versions should work
okay..

If you do an 'rpm -qa | grep <part-package-name>', this will tell which
components of the package you have installed.. for example 'rpm -qa | grep
glibc' will tell you which glibc rpm's you have installed.
