Sorry, I missed your original post.
You need to have your Win95 machine defined in /etc/hosts of
the linux box to display X stuff to the Win95 box.

192.168.0.20	winbox

and I presume you have set the DISPLAY variable to the winbox:0.0
or use the following:
linuxbox$ xterm -DISPLAY winbox:0.0 &
linuxbox$
