Well, last time I did this (twice, once on a 4.2 system, once on a 5.1
system), I simply had to install the apache-rpm (which. I assume, you've
already done), create a subdirectory called "public_html" in the user's
directory and create a file called "index.html" in that directory - *and to
make sure, that "public_html", "index.html" and all files to be accessed
via web are world readable (i.e. 'chmod -R o+rX public_html', man chmod for
more information)*. Other than that, no configurations were necessary.
Oh - and I assume the user's home directory must be world readable as well
(maybe world executable is good enough, I never tried).
I would think that all of this is explained in the apache documentation?
