What do you mean "a link to the OLD /var/spool/mail"?
You should have maintain this by mounting a larger partition under this
directory.
How did you fix your spatial problem?
I would have added the drive, mounted it under some temp directory.
Then, after tarring the /var/spool/mail(retating all ownership and
permissions)
to this new drive and untarring it there, remount this drive under
/var/spool/mail.
Of course you would want your mail services to be disabled during this time,
perhaps
doing all this in single user mode.
You shouldn't have any problems with links after that. But just to check for
the
existence of such links perform a
find / -lname *var/spool/mail*
This will discover any DIRECT links to things under /var/spool/mail
(i.e. It won't discover a link to a link that is linked to /var/spool/mail)

Those that remember this topic awhile back, /var/spool/mail was fill up my
hard drive so I needed to place it on a larger hard drive. Did that last
Friday and now things are really weird.
First off, there are now BOGUS.???(???these change with the alphabet) mail
users being placed in my system. Some mail is getting through fine and some
is not. Weird. Also permissions seem to be changing on existing mail
accounts.
So, is there still some link to the old /var/spool/mail because I never
deleted it( and that drive still wanders in the size area)?? 2nd, how to
stop these BOGUS mail users. 3rd, is this all OK what I have done.
