Hi,
I think you're definitely on the right track by comparing the old kernel's
functionality to the new one. It's likely you've not enabled all the options
you need to get the partitions / drives working... Have you looked at the
non-standard cd-rom options in the kernel? (make xconfig) :) it might be in
there. Also, check that you've ticked.. umm.. let's see....
- vfat
- iso9660
- dos fat
- msdos far
- codepage 437
- codepage 850
- NLS ISO 8859-1
(all these on the 'filesystem' menu)
