Hi,
Thanks to the people who made suggestions. I hope to be able to
use them... Unfortunately, something _bad_ seems to have happened.
Recap: I have 2 drives:
hda1 (win 95 1GB)
hdb1 (win 95 2GB)
hdb2 (nothing at the moment 1GB)
hdb5 (1GB linux)
hdb6 (swap 80MB)
I get these messages:
[root@localhost /root]# fdisk /dev/hdb2
Unable to read /dev/hdb2
[root@localhost /root]# mke2fs /dev/hdb2
mke2fs 1.10, 24-Apr-97 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
/dev/hdb2: Not enough space to build proposed filesystem while setting up superblock
So it seems like something is wrong with the hdb2 partition that I got by
deleting a win95 partition with (dos) fdisk.
I am not imagining that this partition exists (here is an extract of dmesg)
Partition check:
hda: [EZD] [remap 0->1] [527/64/63] hda1
hdb: [EZD] [remap 0->1] [525/255/63] hdb1 hdb2 < hdb5 hdb6 >
What can I do about this?
As a last resort I could do a complete reinstall :-( but would prefer to avoid
this.
In case this is relevant my second hard drive is a maxtor and I had to use
their EZ bios when I set it up because my bios couldn't cope.
(I doubt this is relevant though because I didn't have any problem installing
linux in the first place by first deleting a win partition and then installing.)
