The Glint from the RHL5.1 CD has bugs.
Here is what will fix them:
1. Download the newest glint and the newest rpm
from a fast mirror of Redhat:
ftp://ftp.lame.org/mirrors/redhat/redhat-5.1/updates/i386
2. Upgrade glint:
# rpm -Uvh glint-2.6.1-1.i386.rpm rpm-2.5.3-5.1.i386.rpm
3. Since glint chokes when the directory
you give its "Configure" has any subdirectories,
copy things around to have a directory w/o subdirectories.
THIS could be why glint stopped.
4. When you upgrade to latest version of rpm,
rpm-2.5.3-5.1.i386.rpm, you *must* make the
symlinks given in www.redhat.com/errata for that rpm
version. Otherwise glint will not find the "rpmrc" file,
as rpm keeps it in a new place, so glint needs the symlink.
If you do all these things, you should be able to use glint
fairly well. It will even give you a nice message if you
are missing a dependency or two.
Remember though, glint gives you access to only some
of rpm's power.
