Chris,
I have the same VIPER 330 card and working very well
with Linux. I'm running XFree86 3.3.2 and using the
SVGA driver. Try setting up XFree86 with the XF86Setup
program which listed VIPER 330 in the card list.
Everything just worked perfectly fine.
