Philip,
I _just_ got this working (I'm assuming you're using Caldera's nwclient
package to do this.) I was getting the same errors, but it turns out I
forgot to update the SysV init scripts. You need to get the .tar.gz file
that is listed on the page where you got the nwclient.rpm from.
Instructions for this can be found at:
http://www.caldera.com/doc/netware/linuxclient/
Then you can type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nwclient start and it will do all that
stuff for you (insmod nkfs etc.)
