It's a security feature. The caller is rejected if his
machine is not registered in the hosts, DNS or NIS systems.
The receiving machine is doing a reverse name
lookup of the calling machine. It knows your IP number from the incoming telnet
request. It wants to look that up via DNS to find the name
of the calling machine. If it can't find you, and treats you as an impostor.
On the receiving machine, make a hosts entry containing
the name and ip of the calling machine. Linuxconf can do it.
Then set your "Hostname search path" to "hosts, dns" using linuxconf also.
If the two machines are on a network that uses a DNS or NIS server, the admin
could put your caller machine into DNS or NIS.
