<html><div>I use my linux box as a router inbetween my cable modem and internal
non-routable network.</div>
<br>
<div>The power went out and my ups was about to die so I issued that
command shutdown -h now. I had to leave before the power came back
on and so I left with my system halted. I came back and my roommate
was using his computer. I said, "I know, I know, the internet
is out" and he said, "What are you talking about? The
internet is working perfectly" And it was.</div>
<br>
<div>My questions is, if my system is halted doesn't that mean that all
the processes are stopped? Or shouldn't it? And, anyway, is
this a problem with my specific computer(install?) or not? This
seems to be to be a huge security threat... but then, what do I
know....</div>
