My motherboard is a UM8810P-AIO with a Phoenix bios. The IDE controller
is a PCI Bus IDE controller (chipset CMD PCI0640B.) that is built onto
the motherboard. There was a revisions A of this board, but I have rev B.
If the controller is possibly the trouble, can anyone recommend an ISA/PCI
EIDE controller and are there compatibility issues to deal with under
Linux? I will only have 2 hard drives on the system (Western Digital
Caviar 1.6GB IDE) and the CD-ROM (Toshiba 4x IDE.) I have also tried
several different cables in case the connection was causing the trouble,
but to no avail. I am still running kernel 1.2.13, but will upgrade once
the CD is in shape. I can provide any other information if that will help
anyone. Thanks again!
