Mitsumi 2X CD-Rom (mcd) doesn't work with RH4.0 install

I searched the archives and found several other reports of exactly the
same problem but NO fix or solution.  (Buying a new CD-ROM drive as
one writer did aside.)  Everything works up until the mount fails with
the error: "no disk in drive".  Someone mentioned something about a
later rev of the kernel working, (was it 2.0.21 ?) but after digging
through all the messages in the archives that mentioned mcd or mitsumi
I still couldn't find any more details.  Is there another boot disk
image on the CD-ROM or the FTP site that might work?  HELP!!!
