With help from several users I now have shadow up and running. I thought
I would mention here what corrected my problem for the next guy who is
having the same trouble as I did.

....DON'T TRY TO USE THE BROADWAYNET.COM SHADOW SET WITH 4.0.....

My confusion about my problem was that I didn't realize that PAM has the
shadow featurers built right in. All you have to do is to enable the
shadow feature of PAM.

	1) Install the shadow-utils RPM
	2) run the pwconv5 program to convert your password's
	3) chmod 400 passwd- shadow-
( wrong rights are set to the temp files )
	4) Add users....

Again thanks to all that helped, and if you have anything else to add
please do so.
