Yes. The one used to build the kernel is already in /usr/src/
You can get rid of  quite a lot of modules _and_ make your kernel mean and
lean by going through all the choices, with frequent use of the help
function.

AWE don't work with anything but the newest 2.1.x devel-kernels.
