argh, the dreaded screen bug

Hi,
I'm being afflicted by screen's "screen is terminating" problem. It starts
up (after a somewhat long pause!), then terminates immediately. I have
seen this before, and believe it was related to bust tty handling code in
the kernel. So I upgraded to 2.0.26, but the problem persisted!! I ran
2.0.24 for a while and it seemed fine under that. 2.0.0 definitely has the
problem.
I am running the updated screen package. strace outputs can be provided if
required. Will check for problem on my personal 2.0.25 machine.
