is your machine "kennis" listed as a machine in your /etc/hosts file
either by tcp/ip address or by lookback tcp/ip?
it should look something like this
ip address
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd kennis.domain.ext kennis
the ip would be the machine ip, or perhaps 127.0.0.1 I believe.
Perhaps the error is coming from the server that dip is connecting to?
I'm afraid I don't know anything about dial-up connections under
linux however, only full time ethernet.
