1.- I'm thinking this sounds related to your DNS server... look in
/etc/resolv.conf and see if anything exists. this is where your DNS
server information resides. Perhaps that got waxed in the upgrade?
I think your error means it can't find the other server, not yours.

2. Does /etc/hosts exist?

Thanks for your help. However, re-installing my old /etc/resolv.conf
and /etc/hosts did not make any difference. Running /usr/sbin/dip
is enough to get the error-msg "kennis: Hostname lookup failure",
with "kennis" being my hostname.
