I've been running with a few kernels quite regularly now. I dont use
modules, tho, so I dont know how much different it would be. Just make
sure that you do what I do, and I have /usr/src/linux-2.0.24, and a
symbolic link for /usr/linux (besides, its prettier that way). Then you
can just nuke the symbolic link, install the new source, and have it all
set up with the symbolic link again. That way, you can move the symlink
around depending on which kernel you want to compile. I've usualy got
about 5 kernels laying around on my root partition, since I usually try
and keep up with the newest kernel.
