I was trying to figure out how spammers were getting my email addresses,
and I asked if anyone had received spam from the three most recent
spammers to grace my mailbox. Many people replied that they had, though
no one had received spam from all three.
I now realize a far more likely possibility... the linux-kernel mailing
list, which has a mail2news gateway to linux.dev.kernel. I had
forgotten about the news gateway, and now realize that it is far more
likely that spammers sucked my name from posts to that list, than
searching Red Hat's mail-list archives on www.redhat.com.
In a rather unusual twist, the last email spam I received from the
elusive "emerald@earthstar.com" was advertising software to assist in
email spamming. So is that spam^2?
