Did you try to type "swapon -a" at the command line?
Any errors? Maybe you could run "mkswap" again??

Sheesh, guys... it's a freakin' 128 MB Pentium.. What could you possibly
be running that would take up all of that?
No wonder you aren't touching your swap partition. Fire up 30 instances of
XEmacs, and you might. :)
