I followed all of the instructions in the PPP-over-ISDN mini howto and it
got me alot further than I got by myself :>
Using the supplied PPP-ON script my machine connects and stays connected
until I kill the process... But I aparantly have something setup wrong on
the network side however because even though I am connected (and to answer
your question, I know i am connected becuase of the LEDs on the Bitsurfer.)
I cannot ping anything on the internet, including my DNS server. I have a
static IP (206.31.32.250) and a terchiary domain name (ttz.inil.com). My
HOSTNAME file contains the line 'ttz.inil.com' my hosts file contains two
lines:
127.0.0.1 localhost
206.31.32.250 ttz.inil.com ttz
and my /etc/sysconfig/network file reads:
NETWORKING=YES
HOSTNAME=ttz.inil.com
DOMAINNAME=inil.com
GATEWAY=255.255.255.0
GATEWAYDEV=ppp0 <- now i changed this (was eth0) is this right
or wrong? (doesnt work either way at the present time.)
The ISDN connection is a PAP connection and I am sure I have this setup
right... And as a quick side note, for anyone that uses a bitsurfer... How
do I get it to dial both numbers? Right now I have specified
4433260&4433260 which is what the HOWTO says to do and which works in
winbloze '95 but with this setup it creats a file called connect-errors and
inside it reports unrecognized command: 4433260...
