Maybe there is such a problem. But LILO is able to boot an extended
partition. LILO is installed on the MBR of my first hd, first partition.
Mabye LILO just bitches if you have the linux root on an extended
partition. If that's the case, then it's probably an outdated LILO.
I've run a linux server on another computer with /dev/sdc9! as the root
partition. And if I remember correctly, linux fdisk bitched about being
unable to create the sdc9 extended partition. So I used OS/2's fdisk to
create it. LILO and linux's fdisk are pretty flexible but dumb at times.
