I had the EXACT same problem the first time I installed RedHat 4.0. In
fact, I have the exact same hardware you do: Pentium Pro 200, 2940uw; NT
4.0 on the /dev/sda5, linux on /dev/sdb5. The intall program kept giving
me errors during the "Install Bootloader" step. It worked the second (or
was it third) time that I installed RedHat 4.0.
You could always make a boot disk, mount the linux partition, and setup
lilo.conf yourself (and run lilo). That's what I usually do anyway.
Comment to RedHat: you've got a long way to go before linux on intel can
be considered a serious contender to low-end sparc stations. Upgrading my
Sparc 5 from Solaris 2.5 from 2.3 was pretty painless.
