Well, for starters, the default path for kernels that lilo uses is in
/boot not /
also, Elliot mentioned that you should, but you did not mention whether or
not you ran lilo again after copying the file.
But rest assured, it won't help if you don't update the correct kernel
file in /boot. Anyway, read /etc/lilo.conf and you can overwrite the
exact file that it is pulling from /boot, or you could create another
entry in lilo.conf and give yourself another boot option and not overwrite
the said file. Either way, run "lilo" when finished.
