Thanks Tom,
It was almost that easy. I also had to restore the original pam.conf which
got changed by the gawk script in the errata. Either I typed it in
incorrectly, or there is a problem with it. I'm running pam-0.50-17 (came
on the cd) and I can log in. I guess I'll try the updates to pam again
after I talk to the rh folks about what has gone wrong and what needs to be
fixed.
