Linux defines the loopback interface with the address 127.0.0.1, and I
understand that programs such as GATED (which I use) require it to be this
address.
However, it would be very useful to define each machines' loopback with a
unique address as a constant point of reference when several machines are
used in a redundantly routed network.
Is there anyway to either "safely" change this address without breaking
GATED etc, or to alias the loopback device with a secondary address?
