I just got finished working the same problem with the same card. 
Things to try:
1.  Add the card in to /etc/conf.modules
Instructions are in the modules documentation in /usr/src/linux-2.0.18
2.  Tell Lilo to force the card detection.
3.  Do a make config and enable the NE2000 option under network cards
