I finally got the NE2000 compatible card to be recognized. Recompiling
the kernel with NE2000 enabled got the card, but brought up an
error message of wrong parameters. To fix the problem, I had to
edit /etc/conf.modules to include the card per the instructions
in the documentation on modules down in /usr/src/linux-2.0.18.
Now all I have to do is get my network configured properly, I think.
