I have 3.0 installed in both Linux and Winblows.  Most of the demos 
perform at *about* the same rates.  The only noticable difference is on 
my 14 inch monitor, the X11 graphics don't look as nice as in win95.  As 
far as calculations go, I think the Linux version is a tad faster, but 
without doing some benchmarking, it would be hard to tell.
