RH linux 4.0 install 1740 adaptec problem

Ok I made a boot disk for my Adaptec 1740 SCSi adapter when I rawrited
boot1740.img that I downloaded from ftp.redhat.com. I installed linux and
metro X and set everything up. It says installation complete and I
reboot. After the lilo prompt it starts to load linux, but then it does
not detect my SCSi adapter. IT just says zero host detected and kernle
panic, then is stalled. How do I fix this?
