Hmm - perhaps you either haven't got the V2.2 PPP-HOWTO (available from
the url below or sunsite.unc.edu) or I didn't say it clearly enough in
there...
You CANNOT receive email using sendmail if you have a dynamic IP number
(and as you are using POP, I presume this is what you have).
You CAN use sendmail on your machine to transmit mail sent locally to your
ISP - you can read and reply to email while off line and have sendmail
(via the ip-up script) transmit it as soon as you connect.
To do this, all you have to do for sendmail is to edit the 'smart host'
(DS directive) so it points at your ISP's mail host. You do not have to
generate a new sendmail.cf - the standard one in the Red Hat distribution
will work just fine...
Have a re-read of V2.2 of the howto and mail again if you are still having
problems.
