Last year I used two ethernet cards in a firewall setup.

It was on a slackware 2.3.0 with kernel 1.2.13, but it migth be the same
with the new kernels.

Linux (at least with kernels 1.2.x) only autoprobes for one ethernet card.
If you want to use more ethernet cards, you'll have to specify *all* the
cards manually in /etc/lilo.conf:

append="reserve=0x200, 32 ether=0, 0x200, eth0 reserve=0x300, 32 ether=0,
0x300, eth1"

As far as I remember, I got most of this information from the
bootprompt-HOWTO, but I might be wrong about that.

best regards,

vilmann
