Some boards are much faster with MetroX or AcceleratedX.
Among these boards are #9 Imagine 128s and Matrox Millenium.

Motif- no.
OpenGL- if you use Mesa, no. If you use the commercial ones (which
includes/will include support for 3D accelerators), you have to.
And Xinside's CDE will only run under AcceleratedX (can't imagine why
anyone would want CDE though- it's a pain in the a* to work with, IMO).

PS: If you want a commercial accelerated X-server (which are money
well spent if you got a fast card), go for AcceleratedX. MetroX is
buggy as h* (e.g. it's completely unusable with #9 Imagine 128).
