Sheldon,
It seems that the boot disk that I made from your image needs root disks
from that 3.0.3 disk, but since my system is running 4.0 right now, the
formatting of the root disks is unacceptable to the kernel on the boot
disk. I tried doing it with rawrite under dos, but I still get the
following results:
I boot up the disk with Adaptec AHA 2940 and 3COM 590 and SCSI CDROM support.
I get through the boot portion fine. When I put the first root disk
(made using rawrite and the roo image on my Picasso 3.0.3 CDROM, it
appears to be checking the ext2 filesystem aneventually fails. I get the
following messages:
EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck i8s recommened.
EXT2-fs warning (device 02:00): ext2_free_blocks: bit already cleared for
block 1396
blk_dev: wrong version
wake_up: wrong version
wait_for_request: wrong version
block_read: wrong version
block_write: wrong version
clock_fsync: wrong version
register_blkdev: wrong version
kernel_version needed, but can't be found
What am I doing wrong? Can you explain enough of the process for me to
understand these errors?
**For those of you who missed what I'm trying to achieve: I have a
Duracom machine which has a working RedHat 4.0 kernel, but I need to
backtrack to get SCO binary capability. The machine has an AHA2940 card,
a 3COM 3c590card and a SCSI CDROM. I'm trying to get boot and root disks
that will work with my unsupported (under 3.0.3) hardware to get me a
working 3.0.3 system.**
