XFree 3.2 Upgrade question

How does one upgrade to the XFRee 3.2 packages? I have downloaded them
and I have found that they cannot be installed because of dependancies.
I have even triesd the --force option. Some packages will install, but
others report that they are dependant on other packages like emacs and
many other X packages. I got the Mach64 server installed, but none of
the others. Now , none of my keys work properly: I cant backspace or
delete (hence my crappy typing and seemingly stream of consciousness
message); Netscape keeps giving me a dialog box saying Warning:
translation table sytax error:Unknown keysym name: ofsActivate...
I need help badly, as X is only semi-functional, but the thought of
going back to Metro-X sends shivers down my spine... Thanks in advance.
