FTP problems

I set up a guestgroup in /etc/ftpaccess so that my customers can ftp
into their accounts but can't get out of the ftp directory. It works
fine, exept that they can't delete or overwrite already existing files
even though they own them and the permissions are 755.
What am I missing?
