Sorry, I scoured the errata pages from a to z. If it had a link I looked.
The errata links make no mention of cards not being recognized, just scsi
devices, as well as a plethora of various errors but only when running linux,
not loading.
And I *had* tried both bootaic7xxx.img.qz and bootaic7xxx-alt.img.qz with the
same results. Believe me, I wouldn't waste anyone's time with something
simple.
I finally went to http://confused.ume.maine.edu/~aic7xxx/aic7xxx and lo I
found the exact description of the problem - essentially no coding of pci.h for
the 7861 which is the 2940AU whereas the 7860 is just a 2940U. This has
since been patched (thanks to Justin Gibbs and Dan Eishen). BTW they have one
hell of a mailing list on the Adaptec adapters should anyone be interested.
I then looked at the pci.h on the RH cdrom and lo no 7861 support, hmmmm....
I then downloaded 2.0.25 and lo, it had support for the 7861 in it's pci.h.
Like I said, bummed!
