But every other user is also Joe Random User, and there are
other random users who *do* want pppd to start up at boot...
In any case, we agree that I made the wrong decision about
the default, and the default is already changed in my version
of the source code of netcfg.
In the meantime, if you ever go through the excersize of setting
up PPP again (for whatever reason), just click on "Customize"
instead of "Done" when you have entered the phone number, login
name, and password, and change the appropriate settings. The
window you work in when you do that is the same one you get if
you edit the ppp interface later.
