I am now speaking up on this topic, one that I thought about the first
time that I saw the warning in some file in the redhat distribution.
It said that I ought to be using some control-panel freak of nature to
edit the file.
I really dislike this. I agree that it is a great thing that redhat
is putting out the control-panel and it's relatives to help newbies to
configure things. However, what if one is stuck at the command
prompt? What if one is doing a machine for work, which will only be a
server? Do we have to run the x-apps to configure the machine? A
vast improvement over just the warning would be to have the warning,
but to always also have the format of the file in there as well. Just
a simple few lines of examples would suffice.
