Win95 will co-exist with linux with no problem.
When Win95 installs itself it overwrites the MBR
without even asking.
Solution: boot from a floppy and run lilo. This will,
restore/install your setup, back over the newly
written MBR. All should then be well.
(This assumes of course that you install LILO on the MBR)

I'll admit that Microsoft's I-control-the-world viewpoint causes a bit of a
problem, but two OSes on a single disk is certain not impossible.
