I am kinda new to Linux so I admit I don't know much but this I do know.
Linux is a GREAT operating system! I am a computer science student at
Southern Illinois University. I am trying to get a Linux group started;
I'm talking to one of my CS professor now. At our university, we
primarily learn C++/OOP programming. In addition, our advanced courses
include Visual Basic 5.0 and Windows95 programming course. But what
about X Windows programming? (Can anyone suggest some good books on X
programming?) I want to, as well as the group I'm trying to put together,
contribute to the Linux community like many others have. We would like to
contribute in a way that will give linux a little more usage at the home
(i.e.Quicken, online encyclopedias, Netscape plugins, and etc.).
Although we can't possibly do all of this, this is what we would like to
see Linux manifest. One more thought here, if the Linux community were a
corporation, it would be huge (bigger the M$ Corp.) and nearly all facets
of network computing, Internet programming, File & Application servers,
mission critical applications, and etc. Just a thought.
